New Zealand's Gold Rush Days

Arrowtown, former gold rush camp
Chinese storekeeper, Ah Lum, ran a store during the gold rush days
We had dinner in the little village of Arrowtown, once a gold mining camp.

From the late 1860s to the 1880s this was one of many camps established by Chinese gold miners, who produced 30% of New Zealand's gold.

Some of the Chinese miners' buildings still stand or have been reconstructed.
