The Otago Peninsula had much of interest to me (in addition to the PENGUINS). I took a walk on Allans Beach, where there were sea lions lounging on the rocks. Toured Larnach Castle, the only castle in New Zealand. Took a cruise out to the end of the peninsula. Ate lunch at the Penguin Cafe in the cute little town of Portobello. Visited the Otago Peninsula Museum in Portobello. A delightful three days!
On Allans Beach Wildlife Reserve (note that I'm wearing my Peachtree Road Race volunteer tee shirt). |
The chalk board outside the Penguin Cafe gave the weather forecast: Saturday - Cloudy but fine Sunday - Same again Monday - And again Tuesday - Rain (Note that I left on Monday) |
Cruise boat to the end of the peninsula on a lovely day |
Saw lots of fur seals and sea lions in multiple locations! |
This was the view from Penguin Place Lodge on the day I left. Sad to go. |
