We ended our time in Wellington at the Museum of New Zealand, "Te Papa Tongarewa" in the Maori language.

| The Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840 by the Europeans and Maori, except the Maori did not fully grasp the import of the document because of a translation issue. |

| The nocturnal kiwi bird is rarely seen, even by New Zealanders. This taxidermied kiwi is as close as we got to seeing a real one. |

| Wellington's City Gallery was another of the fine museums throughout the city. Too much to see and do in this easily accessible city. |
