We ended our time in Wellington at the Museum of New Zealand, "Te Papa Tongarewa" in the Maori language.

The Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840 by the Europeans and Maori, except the Maori did not fully grasp the import of the document because of a translation issue. |
The nocturnal kiwi bird is rarely seen, even by New Zealanders. This taxidermied kiwi is as close as we got to seeing a real one. |
Wellington's City Gallery was another of the fine museums throughout the city. Too much to see and do in this easily accessible city. |
