The start of my week of volunteering

I slept late this morning --- my first opportunity so far on this trip. Repacked my bags for the next phase of my trip. I will be volunteering for a medical mission project for which my brother and Maureen have volunteered the last two years. Since I don't have medical skills, Maureen and I will match donated eye glasses to people who come to the clinics.

We arrived in Urubamba and got settled in the hotel that will serve as our base camp for the next week. Bill and Maureen showed me around the town and we watched a street artist create a painting to an appreciative local audience.

Peru is having its presidential run-off elections tomorrow (Sunday) which should prove interesting. The owner of our hotel ran for a local office, so I took a picture of Bill with one of Edwin's political posters.
